Dust It Off: Revisiting An Idea You Shelved

Today, I want to explore what it means to revisit ideas that had to wait for their right time.
I often tell the story of how my podcast began. Back in 2011, it started as a radio program. When the sponsorship ended, so did the show. I was disappointed, of course, but I never let go of the idea. I carried it with me, hoping that one day it would return in a new form. And it did.
Years later, technology opened doors I hadn’t imagined back then, and the radio show was reborn in 2024 as a podcast. Now, it reaches far beyond Bermuda and continues to grow in ways my younger self couldn’t have imagined.
The same is true for the women’s retreat I’m co-creating with two friends. The first spark came about eight years ago when I gathered three friends to develop a special day. It was beautiful, and we were proud of what we created. But the time wasn’t right to build something bigger. So, the idea rested, quietly, patiently, until it was ready.
This year, it comes alive again as Space To Be, a retreat taking place on October 4 at BUEI. If you’re in Bermuda, or if you’ve been thinking about a visit, I’d love for you to join us.
Maybe you’ve had an idea like this too. Something you tried once, but the timing or resources weren’t right. Could now be the moment to bring it back? Has the world shifted in a way that makes space for your vision? Do you have the energy and focus to make it a reality?
If an idea comes to mind as you’re reading this, take it out, dust it off and start again. Its time might be now.
Thank you for being here. I’m glad we’re connected.
With gratitude,
Aderonke
