Uncovering strength
There are times in life when we are faced with situations that may seem insurmountable. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless. It is important to remember that we have an inner strength we can tap into to overcome whatever we are facing. This month, we will explore the concept of digging deep, finding strength, and how you can cultivate this inner strength in your daily life.
Recognize your inner strength
The first step in finding strength is to recognize that you already have it within you. If you're able, grab a piece of paper and a pen (iPad/tab and an e-pen) and write the answers to these questions. You may be surprised by what you uncover.
Think back to a time in your life when you had to find extraordinary strength. What was the situation? Where were you? Who was involved? What was your contribution? What do you appreciate about yourself when you think of that situation? What else do you appreciate?
Take a few minutes and write about that time.
Remind yourself what you did and how you felt when you were successful. What strengths did you rely on during those times? Reflecting on and remembering your past successes can help you tap into your inner strength and find the courage to face new challenges and find opportunities.
Practice self-care
Taking care of yourself is essential to find strength during difficult times. Make sure you are getting enough sleep, eating fruit and vegetables, drinking sufficient water and engaging in regular exercise. These basic self-care practices can help you feel more energized and resilient, making it easier to recognize opportunities when they are presented as challenges.
Seek support
No one can go through life alone. Seeking support from friends, family, or a professional can help you find strength during difficult times. Talking to someone can help you gain perspective and find new solutions. Remember, asking for and getting help are signs of strength.
Practice mindfulness
Practicing mindfulness can help you find strength by allowing you to stay present and focused in the moment. When you are facing a difficult situation, it can be easy to get lost in worry and fear about the future. Mindfulness can help you stay grounded and focused on the present, making it easier to find solutions.
There are many apps available that can support your mindfulness. I use the app on my Apple Watch to log how I'm feeling throughout the day. When I first started using it, I thought, it wouldn't make a difference. However when it pops up, I take the time to log how I'm feeling at that moment. It takes less than a minute and allows me to stop, tap into my inner space and check on myself.
Recognize your vulnerability
Finally, it is important to recognize your vulnerability in order to find strength. It is okay to feel scared, overwhelmed, or uncertain during difficult times. By acknowledging these feelings and allowing yourself to be vulnerable, you can tap into your inner strength and find the courage to move forward.
In conclusion, finding strength during difficult times is essential to find and create opportunities and achieve your goals. By recognizing your inner strength, practicing self-care, seeking support, practicing mindfulness, and recognizing your vulnerability, you can cultivate the inner strength to address what may come your way. Remember, you are stronger than you think, and you have the power.
